About Explorer Scouts

Explorer Scouts, formerly Venture Scouts are the 4th junior section in scouting.

Aged from 14 to 18, the aim is to fulfill the purpose of the Scout movement by promoting the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national, and international communities

Explorers take part in a wide range of activities including creative, comunity and adventure activities, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and The Scouts Young Leader Initiative.

About Gauntlett ESU

Gauntlett ESU meet at Whixley Village Hall from 7pm to 9pm on Fridays. The majority of members come from the local villages including Tockwith, Cattal, Green Hammerton, Whixley, Long Marston Little Ouseburn, Great Ouseburn, Rufforth, Poppleton and Boroughbridge. We welcome young people aged 14 to 18 from the local area regardless of whether you've been involved in scouting before.

Gauntlett run an active Programme of Weekly Meetings with a very wide range of activities. One week we may be cooking, rock climbing the next week and the next learning about poverty in the UK.

As well as weekly meetings there is an active camps and activities programme on weekends and during holidays. It might be a day sailing, three day on a narrowboat, a horse riding camp, a hiking competition with other explorers or a game of Monopoly i London using the actual destinations on the board.
